The cloud pattern is not painted: it comes from layering several colours of lacquer and then wet-sanding until each layer shows through in turn. No two boxes carry the same grain.
Diameter 14 cm, height 6 cm. The interior is lacquered black, with room for a packet of tea, jewellery, or small things that need keeping safe.
The lid seats closely but lifts away with a light hand. Gloss finish, polished by hand.
Photographed with other pieces from the set; the item sold is the round box.
