Eggshell lacquer tea tray

The body is built on jackfruit wood, coated in many layers of natural lacquer and wet-sanded between each one. The eggshell is inlaid by hand, piece by piece, forming a pale band that runs around the well of the tray.

The rim is kept low so a tea set stands proud of it. The surface is polished until it is clear, reflecting light without glare.

Each tray takes about three weeks of natural drying between coats, so no two share exactly the same eggshell pattern or depth of red.
